I ordered this hat in an XL for my boyfriend, for his move to the east coast. It's tiiiiiiiiny. It's great quality, nice looking and will definitely keep a head warm, but it's ridiculously small. Luckily, it fits me so I'm going to keep it, but be careful when ordering, a mens XL fits an average size female!
I would recommend this product.

The hat is a large/ extra large and is a bit tight on my head. The wife said I looked like Abe Lincoln.

The hat isn't as plush inside as i thought it would be. The technology does hold in the heat but the ear flaps let the wind in.
I would recommend this product.

Since the product has a couple of the key Omni technologies Columbia offers, I expected a serious winter cap. Three issues for me: 1) When it arrived, I was surprised by how lightweight it is--good for some, perhaps, but it felt like less than I wanted for windy days down into the teens and single digits. 2) It just didn't feel rugged enough stand up to the sometimes harsh use outdoor gear can get. 3) I have a size 7-1/2 head, and I knew the XL would be perhaps a bit snug, but it wasn't even close. It didn't fit on my head in any fashion, and was either mis-labeled for size, or they run very small.
So I returned it. It folded up small enough to easily fit into a 9.5" x 12" Priority Mail envelope, which says something about points 1 & 2 above.
I love my Omni-Heat jacket, but this was a huge let-down.

This hat is even better than I expected!! It's true to it's Omni-Heat warmth, and it's nice because the flaps allow you to adjust the hat once your heat starts to warm up. At some points, I have to take the hat off because it heats up my head so much, but I'm not complaining because it's just doing its job and doing it great. It does run small, however I read the previous review prior to buying it to I was aware of the sizing. I haven't came across a hat that's more worthwhile because it keeps my head dry and warm at the same time, through all of my winter outdoor activities. I would recommend this product by all means!

I bought this hat to compare it with the Central Point Earflap hat. The Columbia Central Point Earflap hat, size L/XL is extremely comfortable and warm but the chin strap seems very cheaply made and breaks easily.
When I saw this hat, the Ridge 2 Run II Earflap, with its heavier duty and padded chin strap buckle, I felt I had found the perfect ear flap hat. I think it is of higher quality than the Central Point Earflap hat, had a more rugged look, but the L/XL size runs extremely small. I do not have huge head, but this hat makes it look like I do. I am able to wear it, but almost uncomfortably so.
I also ordered this hat in S/M, thinking I might like it in a smaller size but the S/M is so tiny that it can't possibly be made for an adult head! I gave it to my 4 year old girl and it fit perfectly.
To sum up, this hat is awesome, you just better make sure your head is below average in size.
