Columbia Women's Yama™ II Mid OutDry

Rain or shine, this lightweight, waterproof-breathable trail shoe will keep you comfortable and protected when it’s time to tackle local trails or stalk remote single-track. The OutDry membrane locks out external moisture while allowing your foot to breathe so sweat evaporates instead of accumulating. Mid-height construction provides great ankle support without unnecessary bulk and the combination suede and nubuck leather upper features an air-mesh panel in front for added breathability. Stick to dirt, rocks and just about everything with a super-grippy high traction rubber sole.

I bought these as my yearly splurge for hiking gear. They seemed to be everything that I was looking for and couldn't wait to take them out on the trail. I wore them around the house and they were pretty stiff but felt fine with my wool socks. I decided to be safe, I would take another pair of shoes with me on my first hike to Mt. Defiance in case they were giving me problems. about 2 miles in my ankles starteed to hurt really bad where my joint met the shoe on the outer side. Thinking it was just me getting used to the shoe, I kept them on for another 2 miles until I couldn't walk another step in them in so much pain. I have tried them out 3 times since trying everything...taping my ankle so it wouldn't be irritated by the side on the shoe, wearing double socks, tying my laces tights, loosening my laces. EVERYTHING. I cannot wear them and when I take them off I have visible bruising on my ankle joint FROM THE SHOE. I have been in pain from them for days after and am so sad that they didnt work out for me. They were great and lightweight and held out water well is a positive about them. I a a very avid hiker, going every weekend in spring and summer and was looking for a product to get me more than 2 miles without me having to put other shoes on.
I do not recommend this product.

This is an odd shoe and not a hiking boot. There is zero ankle support, and the tongue on the shoe is paper thin. The shoe barely covers my ankle. There is no arch support.
They looked weird on line and that is true in reality.
I really like Columbia shoes and these are a huge disappointment.
I do not recommend this product.

I hike frequently, and walk at least 3 miles daily. This shoe fit fine, true to size, though felt a bit stiff when I got them. I put them on and went for my usual 3-mile walk. By mile 2 the balls of my feet started to ache, and before I got home I was in considerable pain. Two more attempts, changing the tightness of the laces, the socks, where I walked, and the pain only increased -- always after two miles. I don't know what it is for sure, but I suspect something is wrong with the soles, or they are simply too hard or stiff, perhaps for my particular feet. When I looked into returning them, I discovered they can't be returned because I wore them outside, and took the tags off. I can't think how I would have known they were painful until wearing them... So, I won't be buying anymore Columbia shoes online. Buyer beware.
I do not recommend this product.

Everyday I walk a mile through a swamp in Florida showing children the beauty of nature. This shoe is perfect for my job! It is extremely light weight and breathable but holds up in the muddy wet environment. Very comfortable and great for everyday use. I highly recommend this hiking boot!
I would recommend this product.

Living in the Pacific Northwest means a lot of rain. I was looking for a comfortable hiking shoe that would stay dry and be comfortable when I walked my dog in the fall and winter. When I tried on this particular shoe I was surprised how easy my foot slipped into it. The laces are long and stayed tied. The size is true to my measured foot size. My only concern is that these are a tiny bit snug. Though I have only worn them a few days, I am hoping that the snugness is just part of the shoe, and not a deter to comfort. Or that my socks are a bit too thick. So far, so good. One thing I am impress with is the weight of the shoe. It is very light weight, which means I can walk the extra miles much easier. Another huge plus are the shoe's soles. They don't slip on wet surfaces, which is so important when walking in the rain.
Next time, I might try the men's equivalent to this shoe. The extra room would accommodate thicker socks.
I would recommend this product.
